Thankfully, there are plenty of ways you can connect with those\naround you without increasing your risk of getting sick. Here are nine\nsuggestions from your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edfamilydental.com\/preventive-dentistry.html\">Astoria dentist<\/a>\nfor how to safely greet others in COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1.) A Friendly Wave<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A classic way to start or end a conversation is to wave. This\nsimple way of acknowledging someone is a great way to make them feel seen and\nappreciated from a distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2.) Bowing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In Japan, a bow is a common way to express a variety of sentiments.\nA quick, slight bow can be used as a friendly and respectful way to start or\nend a conversation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.) Namaste<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Namaste is a traditional salutation used throughout Southeast\nAsia to signify respect and gratitude. To practice it, press your palms\ntogether in front of your heart and bow your head slightly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4.) Footshaking<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You may not be able to shake hands right now, but you can \u201cshake\u201d\nfeet! While standing on one leg, tap your foot against another person\u2019s foot. Just\nbe careful not to lose your balance!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5.) Hand Over Heart<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus recently\ndemonstrated the no-touch greeting of placing your right hand over your heart.\nThis indicates genuine happiness to meet someone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6.) Shaka<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Popular among surfers and beachgoers, the shaka is a laid-back\nway to say hello that originated from the Hawaiian Islands. To create a shaka,\nmake a fist and extend your pinky and thumb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7.) Blow a Kiss<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re looking for a more playful way to say \u201chi,\u201d try\nblowing a kiss! However, just be sure you don\u2019t touch your fingers to your lips\nor throw spittle at whoever you\u2019re greeting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8.) Air High-Five<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can still give someone an enthusiastic high-five as long\nas you don\u2019t make contact. Simply stop short before your hands touch to keep you\nboth safe and healthy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9.) Just Say \u201cHi\u201d<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Saying \u201chello\u201d doesn\u2019t have to be complicated. You can\u2019t go\nwrong with a sincere, heartfelt \u201chello\u201d or \u201cgoodbye\u201d when it comes to showing\nsomeone you care about seeing them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>COVID-19 has changed many aspects of our lives, but it hasn\u2019t\nchanged the importance of a genuine greeting.
